North Hills

While not served much now, this community will be the northern terminus for all routes that will connect with McKnight Road, and North Hills. Therefore, this area will be very important even if for most riders, this is not the destination. North Park will be given the designation of 31. The routes are as follows:

  • 311E: North Hills – Oakland
  • N311: Mt Royal
  • N312: McKnight
  • N313: Thompson Run

311E: North Hills – Oakland

The 311E: North Hills – Oakland will operate much like the N312: McKnight with exception that the 311E: North Hills – Oakland will not serve Downtown, but instead offer a direct passage to Oakland. From North Park, the 311E: North Hills – Oakland will connect to McKnight Road. The route will serve McKnight Road until the 311E: North Hills – Oakland can merge with Evergreen Road. The 311E: North Hills – Oakland will then connect to East Street. From there, the 311E: North Hills – Oakland will connect to E. North Avenue which the 311E: North Hills – Oakland will remain on there until reaching Federal Street. The 311E: North Hills – Oakland will then use Federal to connect with North Commons, then East Commons. From East Commons, the 311E: North Hills – Oakland will connect to E. Ohio Street, and will use E. Ohio Street to connect to Chestnut so the 311E: North Hills – Oakland can cross the 16th Street bridge, and remain on 16th Street until Liberty. The 311E: North Hills – Oakland will then use Liberty Avenue to connect with the Strip District On-Ramp for the East Busway. The 311E: North Hills – Oakland will then use the East Busway to connect with Herron Avenue Station, and then exit the East Busway through the Oakland On-Ramp. The 311E: North Hills – Oakland will connect with Neville Avenue to Fifth Avenue. The 311E: North Hills – Oakland will the use Fifth Avenue until terminating at Craft Street.

N311: Mt Royal

The N311: Mt Royal will replace the 2: Mt Royal in most aspects. The only difference is it will always serve Ross Park Mall. For those that live on Mt. Royal Blvd, this will be an essential route to access. The schedule for the N311: Mt Royal will remain as is until there is a need to change. This will include Sunday services.

Something to consider is the P13: Mt Royal Flyer. This route operates just as the 2: Mt Royal with exception of a few blocks in Etna. With that said, there is no point in operating this route, especially since it is a rush hour service. The route does not even serve the East Busway any longer – therefore reducing its functionality. Riders can board the N311: Mt Royal and will have a short walk to get to where they need to go. The N311: Mt Royal will also run much more frequently.

N312: McKnight

The N312: McKnight will replace the 12: McKnight in every way with exception of the Downtown routing which will be disclosed on another page. The O12: McKnight Flyer will however be terminated. There will be no replacement for that route, but riders will still be able to ride the N312: McKnight which will provide a little longer of a ride. Most people might not care if it would mean a consolidated, and optimize system.

N313: Thompson Run

The N313: Thompson Run is currently the O5: Thompson Run Flyer. This will be changed, and the route will operate throughout the day. This will provide additional service for those that live on Thompson Run Road, and may even gain more riders as people start to realize they will have a primary route that is available to them. This route will operate as the same, but will have to avoid the HOV lane since this lane is only operating during rush hour, and in only one direction. This will be incompatible with a route that will operate as the N313: Thompson Run.
